Substantive Editing - Hire Cully
Substantive editing isn't copyediting nor is it proofreading. Substantive editing is about finding your story and making sure everything you need to have in your novel is there. That includes your novel's structure, that you have fully-realized characters, that you have a plot (even experimental novels have a plot), that your dialogue works, and that your book is achieving everything you want it to achieve.
After I'm done reading your novel, I will provide you with an 8-10 page evaluation of your book, including weaknesses and strengths, as well as point out the things I think you need to work on as a writer. Everyone needs a substantive editor, in my opinion, because editing a novel is much more than making sure there are no typos in your manuscript or that your grammar is correct. You want to entertain your readers. You want to potentially get a literary agent and sell your book(s) to publishers. Or maybe you want to self-publish. Whatever your goals, I'm here to help.
How Much Will it Cost Me?
NovelMasterClass charges $.03/word. So, for an 80,000 word novel it would be 80,000 x $.03 = $2,400. For works longer than 100,000 words, we can discuss the cost for the project.
